Socio-demographic and regional aspects of children's morbidity in the Czech Republic (on the example of asthma)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá výskytem astmatu u dětské populace z hlediska socioekonomických, demografických a regionálních faktorů na úrovni krajů České republiky. Pomocí korelační analýzy, srovnávací metody a metody popisné statistiky byl zjištěn rostoucí trend vývoje pacientů s astmatem ve věkových kategoriích 0–5, 6–14 a 15–19 let ve většině regionů České republiky. Mezi astmatem nejvíce zasažené kraje patřily ve sledovaném období let 2008–2013 Moravskoslezský a Královéhradecký kraj. Mezi regiony s příznivějším výskytem astmatu patřily Jihočeský a Jihomoravský kraj. Na základě dat o astmaticích získaných v dětské léčebně v Ostrově u Macochy byl prokázán zvýšený výskyt astmatiků ve městech. Rostoucí počet astmatiků je ovlivněn jak geneticky, tak i vlivem životního prostředí a socioekonomických podmínek.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the incidence of asthma in the pediatric population in terms of socioeconomic, demographic and regional factors at the level of regions of the Czech Republic. Using correlation analysis, a comparative method and a method of descriptive statistics, an increasing trend in the development of patients with asthma in the age categories 0–5, 6–14 and 15–19 years was found in most regions of the Czech Republic. Among the regions most affected by asthma in the observed period of 2008–2013 were the Moravian-Silesian and Hradec Králové region. The regions with a more favorable incidence of asthma included the South Bohemian and South Moravian region. Based on data on asthmatics obtained at the children's hospital in Ostrov u Macochy, an increased incidence of asthmatics in cities has been demonstrated. The growing number of asthmatics has been affected both genetically and by environmental and socioeconomic conditions.
