Human Rights in Post-Conflict Areas (Failure or Success of International Interventions?)

Abstract:

Abstract The debate on human rights is of very topical importance in today’s international politics and especially in the last decades it became a highly debated issue at a global level. The aim of the thesis is to give an overview of human rights in the first part, considering the philosophical roots of Universalism and Relativism, the establishment and major development of the United Nations Machinery and the importance of human rights measurement. The second part is a consideration of the human rights situation in areas such as Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq before and after International interventions. The aim of the author is to take a deeper look on one of the most important reason regarding International military interventions (implementation of human rights, spread of democracy and freedom) in order to see if the population of these areas experienced positive outcomes. In the last part through the analyses of the data collected the author will depict a clearer frame in order to answer the question whether international interventions are a success or a failure.
