Abstract:

Projekt „Revize“ je druh fotografického performanceu, jehož záměrem je umožnit divákovi, jež se na portrét dívá, revidovat své dojmy v konfrontaci se sdělením, jaké přináší zobrazovaná osoba. Portrét je vyjímečný obraz, jehož podmětem je jiný člověk se všemisvými jedinečnými fyzickými rysy, osobností a tajemstvím pocitů. I když se předpokládá, že v procesu portrétování existuje určitá interakce mezi portrétujícím a portrétovaným, v přijímacím procesu je jediným zdrojem vytváření významu divák. Proces pohledu na portrét jiného člověka je nevyhnutelně poznamenán projekcí myšlenek, předsudků a vlastních emocionálních stavů. Záměrem mého projektu bylo vytvořit možnost interakce mezi divákem a zobrazovaným subjektem. Projekt je cyklem opakovaných portrétů a fotografií sklenic s vodou, v nichž se odráží emoční rozpoložení portrétovaných osob. Popis realizace projektu: Od října 2019 do konce února 2020 jsem dokumentovala zkoušky divadelního představení v divadle v norském Stavangeru. Při této zakázce jsem požádala herce, aby se zúčastnili mého experimentu s portrétem. Každého z nich jsem během této doby mnohokrát portrétovala. Před provedením portrétu jsem se jich zeptala, jestli jsou šťastní. Prosila jsem, aby se místo přímé odpovědi na tuto otázku pokusili naplnit sklenici vodou, což jim dá jistou možnost škálování, změření jejich pocitu štěstí. Tato činnost se odehrávala mimo dosah mého zorného pole, před provedením portrétu, na takovém na místě, které poskytovalo každému dostatek soukromí. Po portrétu jsem fotografovala sklenici. Portrétovaní nedostali žádné pokyny, jak by měli na fotografii pózovat. Často jsem byla ohromena dívajíce se na portrét a na sklenici vody, kterou po sobě portrétovaný zanechal. Časem došlo k významným změnám emocí u těch, kdo se do projektu zapojili. Setkávala jsem se s nimi několikrát, vždy jen kvůli jedné fotografii, a viděla jsem, že pokaždé přemýšlejí o něco déle, jak sklenici naplnit, všimla jsem si, jak se snaží být co nejpřesnější. Postupem času se tato setkání stávala pro obě strany tíživější.

Abstract:

The "Revision" project is a kind of photographic performance, the intention of which is to enable the viewer to revise his impressions, by confronting him with the message directly from the portrayed subject. A portrait is a special image, whose subject is another person with his unique physical characteristics, personality and emotional mystery. While it is assumed, that in the process of portraying, a certain interaction takes place between the portraitist and the portrayed person, in the process of reception, the viewer is the only source of creation of meaning. The process of looking at a portrait of another human being inevitably includes a projection of ideas, superstitions and one's own emotional states. The intention of my project was to create opportunitie for interaction between the viewer and the portrayed subject. Project`s completion: Between October 2019 and the end of February 2020, I documented rehearsals for a performance at the theater in Stavanger, Norway. On the occasion of this assignment, I asked the actors to take part in my portrait experiment. Each of participant has been portrayed by me many times during this time. Before taking the portrait, I asked each of them, if they were happy. In response to this question, they `ve been asked to fill a glass with water, which gave them the opportunity to scale and measure their sense of happiness. This action took place out of my sight, just before taking the portrait, always in a place that could provide a privacy. After the shoot, I photographed the glass. The portrayed person did not receive instructions on how to pose for a photo. I was often amazed when I looked at the portrait and the glass of water that the portrayed left behind. Over a time, there were significant changes in the emotions of the people involved in the project. I met them several times for just to take one photo and I have observed, that each time they needed more time to consider how to fill the glass, as they wished to be more precise. As time passed, the meetings became increasingly difficult for both sides.
