The aim of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of the book The Road written by an American author Cormac McCarthy. The analysis primarily aims at the meaning of individual symbols in the book. Cílem bakalářské práce je rozbor knihy Cesta amerického autora Cormaca McCarthyho. Rozbor se zaměřuje zejména na význam jednotlivých symbolů, které se v knize objevují. Dále rozbor řeší otázku, jakým způsobem se člověk dokáže vypořádat s extrémními životními podmínkami a zda-li mohou, nebo nemusí, tyto podmínky změnit jeho charakter a chování.
