Social workers' self-reflections of their coping strategies with problem behavior of clients in low-threshold contact centre

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je postavená na sebereflexích sociálních kontaktních pracovníků, kteří pomáhají dětem a mladým lidem v nízkoprahových zařízeních. Pět kontaktních pracovníků si vedlo reflektivní deník, jehož analýza pomocí zakotvené teorie hledala odpověď na otázku, jaké osobní strategie při zvládání problémového chování kontaktní pracovníci používají a reflektují. Výchozím teoretickým rámcem pro problémové chování byla teorie nevhodného chování Rudolfa Dreikurse a pro sebereflexi různé modely řízené sebereflexe. Ukázalo se, že osobní strategie ovlivňují reflektované okolnosti situace, smysl sociální služby, emoce, myšlenky o klientovi a kolegovi, metodika zařízení a hranice mezi rolí profesionála a člověka, které zasahují do výběru technik intervence a zpětného hodnocení situace.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is built on self-reflections of social contact workers who help children and teenagers in low-threshold contact centres. The analysis of reflective diaries of five social contact workers, which was performed based on the grounded theory, was trying to answer the question: what personal strategies social contact workers use and reflect to contain problem behaviour. Rudolf Dreikurs´s theory of misbehaviour and different models of reflective practice were used as the initial theoretical framework. This thesis show that personal strategies are influenced by reflected circumstances of situation, sense of social service, emotions, ideas and thoughts about clients and colleagues, methodology of a particular centre and boundaries between roles of professional and human being, which impact on the choice of intervention techniques and post hoc evaluation of a situation.
