Racism, its origin, evolution and the current situation in France - its image in media

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis applies to the problem of racism in France and other related terms such as (im)migration or colonisation. In the first part we are going to give definitions of the terms mentioned above and the evolution of the French colonisation, we're going to explain the ethnic types and the most popular French regions concerning the migration. Last but not least, we're going to reach the problem of integration and the migration consequences and continue with the media and the journalistic style. The practical part is dedicated to the French press and its point of view on racism and other appropriate terms. We're going to go through the extracts of 40 articles from 4 newspapers, namely Libération, Le Figaro, Le Monde and Ouest-France where we're going to focus on the keywords and comment them from the point of view lexical and cultural.

Abstract:

Le présent mémoire de licence traite de la problématique du racisme en France et d'autre termes liés comme l'(im)migration ou la colonisation. Dans la premi?re partie, nous allons proposer les définitions des termes mentionnés ci-dessus et l'évolution de la colonisation française, puis nous allons présenter des ethnies et des régions françaises les plus marquées par l'(im)migration. Enfin, nous allons mentionner le probl?me d'intégration et les conséquences de la migration et continuer avec les médias et le style journalistique. La partie pratique va disserter de la presse française et sa vue sur le racisme et autres termes adéquats. Nous allons analyser des extraits de 40 articles de 4 journaux, ? savoir Libération, Le Figaro, Le Monde et Ouest-France, o? nous allons nous focaliser sur les mots clés et nous allons les commenter d'un point de vue lexical et culturel.
