Relations between Britain and France in 1936 - 1938

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem vztahů mezi Británií a Francií v období od nástupu vlády Lidové fronty ve Francii v květnu 1936 do září 1938. Pozornost je primárně věnována vzájemným vztahům obou zemí v tomto období, a to hlavně v oblasti politické, vojenské a ekonomické. Dále je v práci uveden meziválečný historický kontext, který ovlivnil formování britsko-francouzských vztahů ve zkoumaném období. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, zda by za určitých okolností vycházejících z historického kontextu mohly tyto vztahy být formovány odlišným způsobem.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is concerned with the development of relations between Britain and France in the period of the onset of the Popular Front government in France between May 1936 and September 1938. This thesis focuses primarily on the two countries' mutual relations during this period in the areas of politics, military, and economy. Furthermore, the work deals with the inter-war historical context that has influenced the formation of British-French relations in the analysed period. The main aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to determine whether, under certain circumstances based on historical context, these relationships could have been shaped differently.
