Interparental Conflicts and Psychosomatic Complaints of Adolescents in Relation to Their Self-esteem.

Abstract:

Záměrem výzkumu bylo ověřit, jaký je vztah mezi subjektivně vnímaným rodičovským konfliktem adolescenty, jejich sebehodnocením a psychosomatickými stesky. Konkrétně se studie zaměřuje na mediační účinek sebehodnocení na vztah mezi subjektivně vnímanými rodičovskými konflikty adolescenty a jejich psychosomatickými stesky. Pozornost je také věnována moderačnímu vlivu pohlaví na vztahy mezi třemi zkoumanými proměnnými. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 343 adolescentů ve věku 15 let, 184 chlapců a 159 dívek. Data byla získána administrací kombinace tři dotazníků – Dětské percepce konfliktu mezi rodiči (CPIC), Rosenbergovy škály sebehodnocení (RSES) a škály pro psychosomatické stesky; v rámci longitudinálního výzkumu ELSPAC v České republice. Výsledky ukázaly, že pohlaví adolescentů nemoderuje vztah mezi zkoumanými proměnnými. V souladu s očekáváním bylo prokázáno, že sebehodnocení je mediátorem vztahu mezi subjektivně vnímanými rodičovskými konflikty adolescenty a jejich psychosomatickými stesky. Interpretace těchto závěrů jsou obsaženy v diplomové práci.

Abstract:

The aim of the research was to examine relationship between adolescents´ perception of interparental conflicts, their self-esteem and their psychosomatic complaints. Particularly, the study focuses on the mediation effect of self-esteem on the relations between adolescents´perception of interparental conflicts and their psychosomatic complaints. Attention is also paid to a moderatory effect of adolescents´gender on the relationships between three investigated variables. Research sample consisted of 343 adolescents at the age of 15, 184 boys and 159 girls. The data was gained via administration of a combination of three questionnaires – Children´s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale (CPIC), Rosenberg´s Self-esteem Scale (RSES) and scale for psychosomatic complaints; within the European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood (ELSPAC) in the Czech Republic. The results show that adolescents´ gender does not moderate the relationship between the investigated variables. In compliance with the expectation, it was proved that self-esteem is mediator of the relations between adolescents´perception of interparental conflicts and their psychosomatic complaints. Interpretations of these conslusions are included in the master´s thesis.
