Evaluation of career development and career counselling program in a selected international company

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem kariéry a kariérního poradenství. Jejím cílem je zanalyzovat program kariérního poradenství ve vybrané mezinárodní společnosti a podat návrhy na jeho zlepšení. V rámci něj bylo definováno i několik výzkumných otázek, které mají pomoci tento cíl naplnit. Práce obsahuje dvě teoretické kapitoly a dále jednu praktickou. První kapitola se zabývá tématem kariéry, vývoje jejího pojetí, jejími typy a také etapami jejího vývoje z pohledu jedince. V závěru kapitoly jsou pak popsány metody rozvoje zaměstnanců z pohledu firmy. Druhá kapitola se věnuje kariérnímu poradenství a jeho procesu, společně s nastíněním historického vývoje této služby, provázaného se vznikem teoretických východisek. Třetí kapitola poskytuje pohled na program kariérního poradenství v praxi, a to prostřednictvím kvantitativního a kvalitativního výzkumu. Získaná data jsou následně vyhodnocena, porovnána s teoretickými východisky a na závěr jsou poskytnuta doporučení s cílem zlepšit fungování tohoto programu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of career and career counselling. Its aim is to analyse a career counselling program in a selected international company and make suggestions for its improvement. Several research questions have been defined in order to help achieving this goal. This thesis contains two theoretical chapters and one practical chapter. The first chapter focuses on career, the development of its concept, its types and stages from the perspective of an individual. At the end of the chapter there are described methods of employee development from the perspective of a company. The second chapter is devoted to career counselling and its process, together with an outline of the historical development of this service linked with the emergence of the theoretical bases. The third chapter then offers a view of the career counselling program in practice through quantitative and qualitative research. The obtained data are evaluated, compared with the theoretical bases and at the end recommendations to help improving this program are provided.
