This thesis is focused on lives of the ethnic minorities living in Great Britain mainly during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher as they are depicted in Zadie Smith?s novel White Teeth. The introductory part is concentrated on the political situation in the 1970s and 1980s. Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá životy etnických skupin žijících ve Velké Británii, především během vlády ministerské předsedkyně Margaret Thatcher, tak jak jsou zobrazeny v románu White Teeth od Zadie Smith. V úvodní části je popsána politická situace ve Velké Británii v 70. a 80. letech.
