Business Continuity Strategy for New Zealand Industrial Supply Chains

Anotace:

Supply chains system is a system of producing and delivering products or services from sourcing of raw materials to the delivery of the final product. Any disruption to this process will result in a complex chain of events resulting in unhappy customers. The geographical location of New Zealand makes it highly dependent on supply chains system. Hence it is important for the businesses to have a business continuity strategy to ensure minimal disruption to the business in the event of a disaster. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to design a framework that can be incorporated in businesses in New Zealand to ensure continuity during a crisis. To develop the framework, systematic literature review was conducted on business continuity strategy and supply chain management and their specific conditions to the New Zealand industrial supply chain. The outcome of this thesis was a six-phase framework that can be implemented in New Zealand businesses to ensure their continuity when there is a supply chain crisis. The framework was also implemented in Syft Technologies, a manufacturing company, which equipped the organisation to handle crisis efficiently.
