The Theatrical Life During the Evolution of Amateur Theatre in Nechanice and Stěžery Region Between 1840 to 1938

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu divadelního života v Nechanicích v letech 1840-1938, jeho vlivu na maloměsto a tamní společnost, v kontextu regionálního vývoje ochotnického divadla. Práce se tak snaží zachytit dynamiku divadelního prostředí a jeho roli při formování kulturní identity maloměsta. První kapitoly jsou věnovány nástinu historického vývoje ochotnického divadla se zaměřením na specifické postavení regionu východních Čech. Dále je představena historie Nechanic se zaměřením na vymezení pojmu maloměsto, jeho specifik a charakteristik. Nejrozsáhlejší část práce je věnována samotnému výzkumu divadelního života v Nechanicích, jeho jednotlivým etapám, kde prostřednictvím archivních materiálů zkoumá role a význam spolkové ochotnické činnosti ve vztahu k maloměstskému prostředí. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována klíčovým divadelním spolkům, a to Jednotě divadelních ochotníků a divadelnímu souboru Kolár. Závěrečná kapitola přináší analýzu repertoáru a jeho vlivu na maloměstskou společnost s důrazem na specifický pramen dějin divadla: divadelních cedulí.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses the theatre culture in Nechanice between the years of 1840 - 1938. The analysis depicts the influence of the theatre to the small town living in context of the regional development of the local amateur theatre. It shows the dynamics of the theatre environment and its role while forming the cultural identity of the small town. First chapters display the historical development of the amateur theatre and its position in the West Bohemian region. The history of Nechanice town is mentioned to describe the term small town with its specifics and characteristics. The biggest part of this thesis studies the research of the theatre life in Nechanice. That is divided into stages where the role and significance of amateur theatre for this small town is described in archival materials. The main focus is concentrated on the key theatre groupings among which Jednota divadelních ochotníků and divadelní soubor Kolár can be placed. The final chapter analyses the repertoire of the amateur theatre and its influence on the local small town society. There the focus is on one main unusual source of information, which are the theatre signs.
