Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a rare systemic autoimmune disease characterized by recurrent thrombosis and/or recurrent foetal loss and accompanied by thrombocytopoenia. The detection of antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) is used as diagnostic marker of APS.
