Spatial imagination, its principles and development in high schools

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl vyšetřit úroveň prostorové představivosti u studentů středních škol a nabídnout možnosti jejího rozvoje v pedagogické praxi. Součástí práce je neformální testové šetření schopností prostorové představivosti u 71 studentů střední i vysoké školy, které ověřuje hypotézu, že úroveň prostorové představivosti studentů klesá. Další částí je zkoumání možných faktorů a příčin tohoto fenoménu. Práce je prioritně zaměřená na možnosti podpory a rozvoje prostorové představivosti. Toho je dosaženo za pomoci autorských příkladů v Mongeově promítání, obsahujících řešení a názorný rys. Stěžejní je pak tvorba 3D modelů v softwaru GeoGebra. Práce rovněž obsahuje inspiraci pro mezioborový přesah rozvoje prostorové představivosti. Příloha obsahuje soubory všech rysů i prostorových modelů, které jsou kompatibilní s programem GeoGebra a které slouží jako didaktická pomůcka při výuce deskriptivní geometrie.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to research the level of spatial imagination in high school students and offers possibilities for its development in a school environment. Among other things, the reader can find an informal test survey of the spatial imagination ability of 71 both high school and college students, which supports a hypothesis that the quality of spatial imagination is declining. The next chapter inspects potential factors and causes of this phenomenon. The thesis is mainly focused on the possible support and development of spatial imagination. This is achieved by authorial examples in Monge projection, containing solutions and visual drawings. The pivotal part is the construction of 3D models created in GeoGebra software. The thesis contains an inter-subject inspiration for spatial imagination development in art classes as well. The attachment includes files of all drawings as well as spatial models, which are all compatible with the GoeGebra software and which can be used as teaching tools for subjects focusing on descriptive geometry.
