Emotional intelligence in relation to job satisfaction of helping professions

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na pracovní spokojenost u pracovníků pomáhajících profesí. Pozornost je věnována faktorům, které mohou ovlivňovat její úroveň. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda existuje a případně jak silná je souvislost mezi emoční inteligencí a pracovní spokojeností u pomáhajících profesí a zjistit případné rozdíly v pracovní spokojenosti podle pracovní pozice a podle délky praxe. V teoretické části se zabývám charakteristikou pomáhajících profesí, jejich osobností a vztahem ke klientům. Konkrétněji se zaměřuji na profesi učitele a vychovatele, které také zkoumám ve své výzkumné části. Dále se věnuji pracovní spokojenosti, jejím teoriím a faktorům. Nakonec popisuji pojem emoční inteligence a její modely. Ve výzkumné části pak pomocí dotazníku JSS a testu SEIS zjišťuji pracovní spokojenost a emoční inteligenci učitelů a vychovatelů a zkoumám, zdali ve výzkumném souboru existuje nějaký vztah a případně jak silný mezi těmito dvěma proměnnými.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the job satisfaction of the workers in helping professions and the factors which can influence the level of this satisfaction. The aim of this paper is to learn whether there is a connection between the emotional intelligence and the job satisfaction of the workers and how strong this connection is. The potential differences in the job satisfaction are viewed from the point of the working positions and the duration of the job experience. In the theoretical part of the paper I deal with the characteristic features of the helping professions, with the personalities of the workers and with their relationship with their clients. Specifically, I focus on the job of a teacher and a educator, which I also study in the practical part of the thesis. Further on, I concentrate on the job satisfaction, its theories, and factors. Finally, I describe the term of the emotional intelligence and its models. In the practical part, the job satisfaction and the emotional intelligence of the teachers and the educators are ascertained by JSS questionnaires and by the SEIS tests. I try to examine the relation and its strength between these two variables.
