Abstract:
This bachelor thesis investigates the depiction of the grotesque and its relation to handicap in two short stories "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" written by Mary Flannery O'Connor and "He" by Katherine Anne Porter. Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá vyobrazení groteskna a jeho provázanost s handicapem v dílech "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" od Mary Flannery O'Connor a "He" od Katherine Anne Porter. V rozboru těchto dvou povídek je analyzován způsob, jakým handicap dítěte ovlivňuje jeho matku a jak se také daná matka o toto dítě stará.
