Quality and Accessibility of Hearing-Impaired Interpreting Services in Moravian-Silesian Region

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývala problematikou spojenou se sociální službou tlumočení do znakového jazyka. Cílem bylo popsat kvalitu a dostupnost této služby pro osoby neslyšící a nedoslýchavé v Moravskoslezském kraji. Práci tvořili dvě stěžejní oblasti. Jednalo se o část teoretickou, která pomocí zpracování a prezentace odborných zdrojů popisovala jednotlivá kritéria, podle kterých je posuzována kvalita a dostupnost této služby, a aktuální trendy ve výzkumu. Praktická část pomocí metody sběru dat a dotazníkového šetření zjišťovala kvalitu a dostupnost tlumočnické sociální služby v Moravskoslezském kraji. Účastníky šetření byli tlumočníci znakového jazyka a lidé, kteří s osobami se sluchovým postižením pracují a o komunitu neslyšících se zajímají. Zjišťováno bylo jejich vzdělání, jazykové a komunikační dovednosti, jejich místní, časové a kapacitní vytížení a užití Etického kodexu tlumočníků znakového jazyka v praxi. Výsledky šetření utvořili ucelený obraz o situaci ohledně tlumočení do znakového jazyka na území Moravskoslezského kraje.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's thesis focuses on issues related to the social services of interpreting into the Sign language. The aim was to describe the quality and availability of those services for deaf and hearing impaired people living in the Moravian-Silesian region. The thesis consists of two main parts. The theoretical part describes through the processing and presentation of professional resources individual criteria according to which the quality and availability of those services is assessed, and current research trends. Practical part using the method of data collection and questionnaire survey ascertained the quality and availability of interpreting services in the Moravian-Silesian region. The survey participants included sign language interpreters, people working with deaf or hearing impaired people and people interested in the deaf people community. The survey's questions asked about their education, language and communication skills, their local, time and capacity utilization and use of the Code of Ethics for sign language interpreters. in practice. The results of the survey formed a comprehensive picture of the situation regarding sign language interpretation in the territory of the Moravian-Silesian region.
