Splicing is an important post-transcriptional pre-mRNA modification, which plays a significant role in gene expression. Non-coding regions are being removed from the pre-mRNA transcript. Sestřih je důležitou posttranskripční modifikací pre-mRNA molekul, která hraje významní roli v genové expresi. Dochází ke odstranění nekódujících oblastí z pre-mRNA transkriptů. Jedním z nejdůležitějších kroků v procesu sestřihu je správné rozpoznání míst sestřihu, kterým jsou definovány hranice exonů a intronů.
