A Realistic Critique of the Liberal Concept of International Justice

Abstract:

Práce prezentuje některé soudobé liberální koncepce mezinárodní spravedlnosti (J. Rawls, J. Habermas, B. Barry a T. W. Pogge) a realistické pojetí politiky (N. Machiavelli, T. Hobbes, C. Schmitt, E. H. Carr a R. Niebuhr). V případě liberálních koncepcí je pozornost zaměřena především na způsob nalézání spravedlnosti, obsah spravedlnosti, způsob jejího zavádění a některé institucionální aspekty. Prezentace realismu je orientována na aspekty, které lze považovat z realistického pohledu jako bariéry, které brání v zavádění liberálních teorií do praxe. Následně je proveden pokus srovnat oba přístupy. Liberální koncepce zde ale nejsou chápány jako identické teorie. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje i na rozdíly mezi nimi. V závěrečné části práce jsou zmíněny některé závěry (různé vnímání spravedlnosti; obtíže při hledání jednotného pojetí spravedlnosti; problémy při realizaci atd.) různých vědních oborů, které lze chápat jako „důkaz“ nemožnosti realizace stejné spravedlnosti pro všechny.

Abstract:

The thesis presents some contemporary liberal conceptions of international justice (J. Rawls, J. Habermas, B. Barry a T. W. Pogge) and realistic conceptions of politics (N. Machiavelli, T. Hobbes, C. Schmitt, E. H. Carr a R. Niebuhr). In the case of liberal conceptions the attention is aimed first to the way of finding justice, the content of justice, the way of putting it into practice, and some institucional aspects. The presentation of realism is oriented to aspects that may by considered obstacles, which obstruct in putting liberal theories into practice, from the realistic point of view. Consequently, there is an attempt to compare both the approaches. However, the liberal conceptions are not here apprehended as identical theories. The thesis points also to divergences between them. In the final part of the thesis there are presented some conclusions (dissimilarities of the perception of juctice; difficulties while searching the unanimous conception of justice; problems during the implementation, etc.) of different disciplines that may be understood as an “evidence” of impossibility to provide identical justice for everyone.
