Anotace Diplomová práce “Využití literatury ve výuce angličtiny na základní škole” se zabývá důležitostí užití literatury a autentických materiálů v hodinách anglického jazyka. Hlavní důraz je kladen na rozšířené čtení. Teoretická část popisuje jeho metodologické, lingvistické a motivační aspekty. V práci jsou dále zkoumány důvody pro čtení, jeho cíle a možné přístupy. Jsou zde popsány typy úloh a navržena kritéria pro výběr textů. Praktická část předkládá osm plánů hodin, které byly implementovány na základní škole. Navíc v diplomové práci můžeme vidět výsledky výzkumu programu rozsáhlého čtení. Výzkum potvrdil, že se čtecí i vyjadřovací schopnosti studentů, stejně jako jejich vztah ke čtení a výuce anglického jazyka, zlepšily po provedení programu.

Annotation The Diploma thesis “Using Literature in English language teaching in the Basic School” focuses on the importance of using literature and authentic materials in English lessons. The main emphasis is on the extensive reading. The theoretical part deals with its methodological, linguistic and motivational aspects. The most important reasons for reading and its goals are examined in the thesis and possible approaches are described. The types of tasks and the criteria for selecting texts are proposed here as well. The practical part introduces eight lesson plans that were implemented in the basic school. Moreover, the results of the research of the effects of extensive reading programme are presented. These results demonstrate that the learners' reading and speaking abilities were improved as well as their attitude to reading and language learning.
