Contribution of intergenerational meetings among children and seniors in homes for the elderly

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá přínosem mezigeneračního setkání mezi dětmi a seniory v domovech pro seniory. Teoretickou část jsem rozdělila do tří kapitol. První kapitola před-stavuje mezigenerační učení, jeho vznik a význam. Druhá kapitola představuje domov pro seniory jako místo mezigeneračního setkání, v níž rozebírám specifika života v instituci a poukazuji na již fungující mezigenerační programy v domovech pro seniory. Třetí kapitola zakončuje teoretickou část představením účastníků mezigeneračního setkávání, kde pouka-zuji nejen na jednotlivá specifika dětí a seniorů, ale také na jejich společné znaky. Praktická část prostřednictvím kvalitativního zkoumání zjišťuje, jaké názory vyjadřují senioři na myšlenku mezigeneračního setkávání, jakým způsobem se mezigenerační setkávání promítá do jejich života v instituci a také jak prožívají průběh mezigeneračního setkávání.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the benefits of an intergenerational meeting between chil-dren and seniors in retirement homes. A theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter presents intergenerational learning, it's origin and it's meaning. The second chapter presents the retirement home as a place of intergenerational meeting, where I discuss the specifics of life in the institution and I point out the already functioning inter-generational programs in homes for the elderly. The third chapter concludes the theoretical part by introducing the participants of the intergenerational meeting, where I deal with not only the individual specifics of children and seniors but also features they have in common. Through qualitative research, the practical part finds out what opinions seniors have on the idea of intergenerational meeting, how it is reflected in their life in the institution and also how they experience the process of an intergenerational meeting.
