Study of magnesium chloride hexahydrate with regard to its utilization for thermal energy storage.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku akumulace tepla využívající fázové změny sloučeniny hexahydrátu chloridu hořečnatého MgCl2.6H2O. Experimentální část práce se zabývá studiem tepelné kapacity látky v rozmezí teplot 298,15 - 413,15 K. Znalost teplotní závislosti tepelné kapacity umožnila určení dalších významných termodynamických veličin jako jsou změny entalpie, entropie a dále pak Gibbsovy energie ( H, S, G). Další část práce je zaměřena na stanovení teploty tání a krystalizace a odpovídající entalpie tání a krystalizace. Poté byla vypočítána celková naakumulovaná energie anorganickou solí během jejího ohřevu v rozmezí teplot od 298,15 K do bodu tání látky. Teplotní stabilita látky byla testována během několika teplotních cyklů společně s nukleačními činidly zabraňujícími výskytu podchlazení látky. Experimentální měření probíhalo na diferenciálním skenovacím kalorimetru.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the accumulation of heat energy using phase change material magnesium chloride hexahydrate MgCl2.6H2O. The experimental part deals with studies of heat capacity of the substance in the temperature range from 298.15 to 413.15 K. The knowledge of temperature dependence of heat capacity allows the identification of other important thermodynamic properties such as changes in enthalpy, entropy and then Gibbs energy (?H, ?S, ?G). Another part of the work is aimed at determining the temperature of melting and crystallization and corresponding enthalpy of fusion and crystallization. Then the total accumulated heat energy of inorganic salts was calculated during heating at temperature from 298.15 K to the melting point of the substance. Thermal stability of the substance was tested during several cycles of heating and cooling as well as the effect of selected nucleating agents to prevent the subcooling of substance. The experiments were done using a differential scanning calorimeter.
