Abstract:

Diplomová práce Rasismus ve Velké Británii ve 20. století po druhé světové válce se zabývá problematikou rasismu ve Spojeném království od poválečného období po současnost. Cílem diplomové práce je především poukázat na přetrvávající problém rasismu a diskriminace, kterému i po desítkách let života v Británii černošští a asijští obyvatelé čelí. Poslouží také jako představení historického kontextu britské diskriminace v průběhu druhé poloviny 20. století po současnost, a v neposlední řadě jako oslava přistěhovalců, kteří i přes obrovské překážky dokázali bojovat proti útlaku a budovali tak lepší životy pro své potomky. V práci bude využívána zejména rešerše a následná analýza historických pramenů, knih a novinových článků, čímž se pokusíme zajistit hlubší pochopení toho, jak rasismus ovlivňoval a stále ovlivňuje obyvatele Velké Británie.

Abstract:

The master’s thesis Racism in Postwar Britain deals with the issue of racism in the United Kingdom from the post-war period to the present day. In particular, the thesis aims to highlight the persistent problem of racism and discrimination that Black and Asian people continue to face even after decades of living in Britain. It will also serve as an introduction to the historical context of British discrimination during the second half of the 20th century to the present day, and ultimately as a celebration of immigrants who, despite enormous obstacles, have been able to fight against oppression to build better lives for their descendants. The thesis will mainly use research and subsequent analysis of historical sources, books, and newspaper articles to try and provide a deeper understanding of how racism has affected and continues to affect people in the UK.
