"Growing up under control?" the leisure time of youth in the seventies of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou trávení volného času mládeže v sedmdesátých letech 20. století v Československu. Téma je nejprve uvedeno historickými souvislostmi, které volný čas mladých ovlivnily. Ve své hlavní části se zabývá srovnáním dvou forem trávení volného času. Jedná se o oficiální aktivity, které byly organizovány Komunistickou stranou Československa prostřednictvím Socialistického svazu mládeže a neoficiální alternativy, které se ideově stavěly proti komunismu. Cílem práce bylo přispět k analýze volného času mládeže v sedmdesátých letech 20. století, jak mladá generace sedmdesátých let 20. století v Československu trávila svůj volný čas a jaké možnosti se jim nabízely. Závěry diplomové práce by pak měly přispět k rozvoji dalšího výzkumu v oblasti volného času socialistické společnosti.

Abstract:

The Diploma thesis deals with the leisure time of youth in the seventies of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia. It compares two forms of spending leisure time. Those are the official activities that were organized by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia by the Socialist Union of Youth and unofficial alternatives that are ideologically opposed communism. The aim of this Diploma thesis is to contribute to the analysis of spare time of youth in the seventies of the 20th century. How did exactly the young generation of seventies in Czechoslovakia spend their free time and what opportunities did they really have. The conclusions of the thesis should then contribute to the development of further research in the area of free time of socialist society.
