Alternative methods in pregnancy and childbirth

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit, jak jsou alternativní metody rozšířené a používané mezi těhotnými ženami a porovnat jejich vliv na průběh porodu. V práci je hodnoceno, jestli má cvičení v těhotenství vliv na délku a bolestivost porodu, a zda ženy užívající potravinové doplňky v těhotenství rodí rychleji. Dalším cílem bylo zhodnotit vliv blízké osoby jako doprovodu rodičky k porodu. V práci je také zjišťováno, zda je pro matky důležitý těsný tělesný kontakt s novorozencem ihned po porodu a zda hodnotí porod stejně matky navštěvující předporodní kurz jako matky, které takový kurz neabsolvovaly. Metodika: Jako metoda pro sběr dat sloužil kvantitativní výzkum formou anonymního dotazníku. Výzkumu, trvajícího od ledna do dubna 2014, se účastnilo 235 žen, které splňovaly stanovené kritéria. Výsledky: Bylo zjištěno, že ženy cvičící v těhotenství mají kratší první dobu porodní a že ženy užívající potravinové doplňky rodí stejně rychle jako ženy, které tyto doplňky neužívají. Dále byla zhodnocena důležitost blízké osoby u porodu, přičemž bylo zjištěno, že není rozdíl v tom, zda ženu doprovází její partner nebo vybraná dula či soukromá porodní asistentka. Vliv absolvování předporodního kurzu na hodnocení porodu se neprokázal, avšak časný tělesný kontakt mezi matkou a novorozencem je zřejmě velmi podstatný. Matky, u kterých proběhl bonding ihned po porodu hodnotí porod lépe. Závěr: Z této práce vyplývá, že by ženy měly v těhotenství cvičit a u porodu by měly mít nějakou blízkou osobu jako podporu. Bonding po porodu je velmi důležitý a měl by být podporován všemi účastníky porodu.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this thesis is to assess how the alternative methods are extended and used among pregnant women and to compare their influence on the course of the childbirth. The thesis evaluates if there is any link between the physical exercise performed during pregnancy and the length and pain during the childbirth, and whether women taking supplements during pregnancy give birth faster. We also evaluated the presence of a loved person during childbirth. The thesis also assesses the importance of close physical contact of mother and newborn immediately after birth and whether the mothers attending prenatal classes evaluate the childbirth the same way as the mothers who never attended such a course. Methods: As a method for collecting data served quantitative research using anonymous questionnaire. Research lasting from January to April 2014 was carried out on 235 women who met specified criteria. Results: We found that women doing physical exercises during pregnancy have a shorter first stage of the childbirth and that women taking supplements give birth as quickly as women who do not use these supplements. We also evaluated the presence of a loved person during childbirth, and it was found that there is no difference in whether a woman is accompanied by her partner, doula or private midwife. The effect of attending the prenatal class on evaluation of giving birth was not proved, but early physical contact of the mother and her child is obviously very important. Mothers who have had bonding evaluate the childbirth better. Conclusions: This thesis suggests that women should exercise during pregnancy and that the presence of a close person during childbirth is supportive. Bonding after birth is very important and should be supported by all participants of the childbirth.
