Nukleové kyseliny (NK) mohou ve vhodných podmínkách tvořit různé typy sekundárních struktur, jakými jsou např. duplexy nebo čtyřřetězcové guaninové kvadruplexy (G4), které vznikají v oblastech bohatých na guaniny. In suitable environment, nucleic acids form different types of secondary structures, such as duplexes or four stranded guanine quadruplexes, typical for sequences rich in guanine.
