Environmental literacy of pre-service primary teachers

Abstract:

Abstrakt Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou environmentální gramotnosti a environmentální výchovy v kontextu České republiky. Práce je rozdělena do několika částí, které postupně zkoumají různé aspekty této problematiky. V úvodní části práce je nastíněn rámec celého výzkumu a jsou formulovány cíle a otázky, které tato práce má zodpovědět. Následně jsou představeny klíčové pojmy, jako jsou environmentální gramotnost, ekologická gramotnost a ekogramotnost, které jsou v práci důkladně analyzovány a diskutovány. Druhá část práce se věnuje vývoji environmentální výchovy v České republice. Jsou zde popsány historické milníky a změny v oblasti environmentální výchovy, které ovlivnily její současný stav. Důraz je kladen na význam a míru integrace environmentální výchovy do českého vzdělávacího systému. Třetí část práce se zaměřuje na environmentální výchovu jako průřezové téma. Jsou zde identifikovány tematické okruhy průřezového tématu a diskutováno, jak je možné tato témata efektivně začlenit do vzdělávání a poradenství. Čtvrtá část práce se věnuje síti středisek environmentální výchovy v České republice. Jsou zde popsány role těchto středisek v pedagogickém procesu a zkoumána spolupráce mezi středisky a nevládními organizacemi. Důležitým aspektem této části je také financování a udržitelnost středisek environmentální výchovy. V závěrečné části práce je provedena empirická analýza, která vychází z dotazníkového šetření. Metodologie výzkumného šetření je detailně popsána a následně jsou prezentovány výsledky tohoto šetření. Práce tak poskytuje konkrétní data a poznatky týkající se environmentální gramotnosti a environmentální výchovy v České republice. Význam našeho výzkumu tkví v tom, že nám umožňuje lépe porozumět vlivu environmentální výchovy na budoucí pedagogy a jejich připravenost na výuku této problematiky. Naše výsledky naznačují, že EVVO na vysokých školách může pozitivně ovlivnit postoj budoucích pedagogů k životnímu prostředí a jejich připravenost na výuku v oblasti environmentální výchovy. Tímto způsobem můžeme přispět k formování nové generace pedagogů, kteří budou schopni motivovat a vést své studenty k ochraně životního prostředí. Tato diplomová práce přináší ucelený pohled na problematiku environmentální gramotnosti a environmentální výchovy v kontextu České republiky a může sloužit jako cenný zdroj informací pro pedagogy, odborníky v oblasti vzdělávání a všechny zájemce o tuto důležitou problematiku.

Abstract:

Abstract This masters thesis deals with the issue of environmental literacy and environmental education in the context of the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided onto several sections, each examining various aspects of this issue. The introductory part outlines the framework of the entire research and formulates the objectives and questions that this thesis aims to answer. Key concepts, such as environmental literacy, ecological literacy, and ecoliteracy, are introduced and thoroughly analysed and discussed in the thesis. The second part of the thesis focuses on the development of environmental education in the Czech Republic. Historical milestones and changes in the field of environmental education that have influenced its current status are described. Emphasis is placed on the significance and level of integration of environmental education into the Czech education system. The third part of the thesis concentrates on environmental education as a cross - cutting theme. Thematic areas of cross - cutting themes are identified, and the effective incorporation of these topics into education and counselling is discussed. The fourth part of the thesis deals with the network of environmental education centres in the pedagogical process are described, and collaboration between the centres and non - governmental organizations is explored. Another important aspect of this section is the financing and sustainability of environmental education centres. In the final part of the thesis, an empirical analysis is conducted based on a questionnaire survey. The research methodology is described in detail, and the results of the survey are presented. This, the thesis provides specific data and insights regarding environmental literacy and environmental education in the Czech Republic. The significance of our research lies in allowing us to better understand the impact of environmental education on future educators and their preparedness for teaching this issue. Our results suggest that environmental education at universities can positively influence the attitudes of future educators toward the environment and their readiness to teach environmental education. In this way, we can contribute to shaping a new generation of educators capable of motivating and guiding their students toward environmental protection. This master´s thesis provides a comprehensive view of environmental literacy and environmental education in the context of the Czech Republic and can serve as a valuable source of information for educators, education professionals, and all those interested in this important issue.
