Autobiografical experience of constructing professional identity by school psychologists in the context of relationships with school staff

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na otázku vývoje kariéry školních psychologů v prostředí českých základních a středních škol. Za využití narativní analýzy autobiografických reflexí se výzkum pokusil nahlédnout na to, jak školní psychologové konstruují a interpretují svoji zkušenost vytváření a udržování profesních rolí (profesních identit) v prostředí konkrétních školních organizací. Současně se pokusí odpovědět na otázku, jak způsob strukturace této zkušenosti přispívá k vytváření pocitu smysluplnosti jejich profesního působení. Pro zachycení individuální autobiografické reflexe profesního příběhu bylo využito kombinace kvalitativních metod, zejména McAdamsovy koncepce identity jako životního příběhu a současně vizualizační techniky postavené na bázi scénotestu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the school psychologists career development in the enviroment of czech grammar schools and high schools. With the use of narrative analysis of autobiographical reflections this reasearch tried to explore how school psychologists construct and interpret their experience of developing and maintaining the professional role (professional identity) in the area of particular school organisations. In the same time it tries to answer the question how the way of structuration of this experience helps to create the sense of meaningfulness in their professional position. Qualitative methods were used to capture the individual autobiographical reflexion of professional narration – especially McAdams‘ conception of identity as life story and also techniques of visualization based on the scenotest technique.
