Comparison of spider (Araneae) diversity between commercial and unmanaged stands in the area of the confluence of the Dyje and Morava rivers

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá porovnáním diverzity pavouků (Araneae) mezi hospodářským a chráněným porostem na území soutoku řek Dyje a Moravy. Pro výzkum, který probíhal ve dvou typech managementů – hospodářské a bezzásahové porosty, bylo vybráno šest vhodných lokalit, tj. tři pro každý typ porostu. Na každé zájmové stanoviště se následně umístily tři formalínové zemní pasti, pomocí kterých probíhal v období od května do září roku 2021 odchyt pavouků. Sběr materiálu se uskutečnil celkem pětkrát, vždy jednou v měsíci. V rámci výzkumu bylo odchyceno a následně determinováno 1 412 jedinců dospělých pavouků, řadících se do 16 čeledí a 72 druhů. Jedinou výjimkou při identifikaci tvořily druhy Pardosa lugubris (Walckenaer, 1802) a Pardosa alacris (C. L. Koch, 1833), které se pro svou podobnost a těžkou odlišitelnost souhrnně zařadily do skupiny Pardosa lugubris group. Nejpočetnější čeledí výzkumu byla Lycosidae, mimo jiné zastoupená nejhojnějším druhem studie Pardosa lugubris group v počtu 498 pavouků. Na základě statistického vyhodnocení dat nebyl zjištěn signifikantní rozdíl v počtu druhů a jejich početnosti a početnosti vzácných a ohrožených druhů mezi zkoumanými typy managementu. Avšak bylo pozorováno, že vyšší počet vzácných a ohrožených druhů inklinoval k bezzásahovým porostům. Kromě toho bylo zjištěno, že management měl marginálně signifikantní vliv na druhové složení pavouků. Okolí každé zemní pasti bylo hodnoceno i dle environmentálních proměnných, konkrétně se jednalo o mocnosti vrstvy opadu, množství odumřelé dřevní hmoty na zemi členěné na malé a velké kousky dřeva, pokryvnost vegetace a otevřenost koruny. Ve všech výše zmíněných faktorech, kromě malých kousků odumřelé dřevní hmoty, byl prokazatelný rozdíl. Hospodářské porosty byly prosvětlenější s hustším vegetačním pokryvem, zatímco v méně prosvětlených bezzásahových porostech bylo větší množství velkých kousků odumřelé dřevní hmoty a vyšší mocnost rostlinného opadu. Charakteristice managementu odpovídalo i druhové zastoupení, kdy obhospodařované lokality upřednostňovali pavouci sušších a světlejších lesů, kdežto v chráněných porostech se nacházely druhy spíše stínomilné a vlhkomilné. Pro oba typy managementu vycházely podobné hodnoty biodiverzity, marginální odlišnost je pouze v druhovém složení pavouků, což je v korelaci s environmentálními faktory. Z výsledků je patrné, že volbou vhodného, přírodě blízkého způsobu hospodaření s absencí příliš intenzivních zásahů (velkoplošné holoseče, frézování pasek), lze dosáhnout podobné úrovně biologické rozmanitosti jako v porostech chráněných, a tím docílit propojení zájmů ochrany přírody a lesnictví.

Abstract:

The submitted diploma thesis deals with the comparison of spider (Araneae) diversity between commercial and unmanaged stands in the area of the confluence of the Dyje and Morava rivers. For the research, which took place in two types of management – commercial and unmanaged stands, six suitable locations were selected, i.e., three for each type of stand. Three formalin pitfall traps were then placed on each site of interest, through which the capture of spiders took place from May to September 2021. The material collection took place a total of five times, once a month. As part of the research, 1 412 adult spiders were caught and subsequently determined, belonging to 16 families and 72 species. The only exception in identification were the species Pardosa lugubris (Walckenaer, 1802) and Pardosa alacris (C. L. Koch, 1833), who due to their similarity and difficult distinguishability were collectively classified into the Pardosa lugubris group. The most numerous family of the research was Lycosidae, among others represented by the most abundant species of the study Pardosa lugubris group in the number of 498 spiders. Based on the statistical evaluation of the data, no significant difference was found in the number of species and their abundance and the abundance of rare and endangered species between the studied types of management. However, it was observed that a higher number of rare and endangered species inclined towards undisturbed stands. In addition, it was found that management had a marginally significant effect on the species composition of spiders. The surroundings of each ground trap were also evaluated according to their environmental variables, specifically it was the power of the litter layer, the amount of dead wood on the ground divided into small and large pieces of wood, vegetation cover, and canopy openness. In all the above-mentioned factors except for small pieces of dead wood, a demonstrable difference was found. Commercial stands were lighter with denser vegetation cover, while in less lit non-intervention stands there was a larger amount of large pieces of dead wood and a higher power of plant litter. The species representation also corresponded to the management characteristics, when spiders of drier and lighter forests preferred managed locations, whereas in protected stands there were rather shade-loving and moisture-loving species. For both types of management, similar biodiversity values were obtained, the marginal difference is only in the species composition of spiders, which is in correlation with environmental factors. The results show that by choosing a suitable, nature-friendly way of management with the absence of too intensive interventions (large-scale clearcuts, soil milling), a similar level of biological diversity can be achieved as in protected stands, thus achieving the connection of nature conservation and forestry interests.
