Reconstructive breast surgery

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou operační rekonstrukce prsu u žen po prodělaném nádorovém onemocnění a také u zdravých pacientek, které mají výraznou genetickou zátěž. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na dostupné informace o samotném onemocnění, prevenci, celkové onkologické léčbě, chirurgických postupech léčby, především pak o různých možnostech chirurgické rekonstrukce prsu a edukaci ve zdravotnictví. Cílem empirické části práce bylo prostřednictvím kazuistik srovnat náročnost pooperační péče u pacientek po rozdílných rekonstrukčních operacích prsu a zmapovat míru informovanosti žen před operacemi prsu. Průzkumné šetření bylo zaměřeno na možnost pacientek, jednak dohledat si potřebné informace vlastními možnostmi, případně kde je dohledávaly a zda byly z jejich pohledu dostačující. Dále zjistit, zda ženám byly poskytnuty dostatečné informace také ze strany zdravotnického personálu a jak zvládaly náročnost pooperačního období, včetně přijetí nového vzhledu po operaci. Na základě analýzy získaných dat posoudit dostupnost a dostatečnost edukačních materiálů pro ženy rozhodující se k rekonstrukci prsu a zjistit, zda by bylo přínosem vytvořit nový informační materiál pro ženy s danou problematikou nebo by bylo vhodnější podpořit projekty zaměřující se na psychiku žen podstupující tuto náročnou léčbu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of surgical breast reconstruction in women after cancer and also in healthy patients who have a significant genetic burden. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the available information about the disease itself, prevention, general oncological treatment, surgical treatment procedures, and especially about the different options of surgical breast reconstruction and education in health care. The aim of the empirical part of the thesis was to compare, through case studies, the difficulty of postoperative care in patients after different breast reconstructive surgeries and to map the level of awareness of women before breast surgery. The exploratory investigation focused on the patients' ability to find the necessary information by their own means, where they found it and whether it was sufficient from their point of view. Furthermore, to find out whether women were also provided with sufficient information by the medical staff and how they coped with the challenges of the post-operative period, including the acceptance of the new appearance after surgery. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, to assess the availability and sufficiency of educational materials for women deciding to undergo breast reconstruction and to determine whether it would be beneficial to create new information material for women on the subject or whether it would be more appropriate to support projects focusing on the psyche of women undergoing this challenging treatment.
