Sleep and burnout syndrome in pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem syndromu vyhoření a kvality spánku u farmaceutů a farmaceutických asistentů. V první části jsou shrnuta teoretická východiska pro zakotvení pojmu syndromu vyhoření a kvality spánku. Cílem práce je prozkoumat vztah mezi subjektivně vnímanou kvalitou spánku a syndromem vyhoření u farmaceutů a farmaceutických asistentů. Toho je docíleno kvantitativně pomocí dvou dotazníkových metod, MBI-HSS (Maslach Burnout Inventory – Human Services Survey) a PSQI (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index). Výzkumným vzorkem je 82 farmaceutů a farmaceutických asistentů vybraných z konkrétní farmaceutické společnosti. Byl nalezen vztah mezi kvalitou spánku a dvěma dimenzemi syndromu vyhoření (emocionální únavou a osobním uspokojením). Rozdíl mezi dvěma skupinami, farmaceuty a farmaceutickými asistenty, se nepotvrdil ani v jedné z proměnných, ani v jejich vztahu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between the burnout syndrome and sleep quality in pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The first part summarises the theoretical background to clarify the concept of burnout and sleep quality. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between subjectively perceived sleep quality and burnout syndrome in pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This is achieved quantitively using two questionnaires, the MBI-HSS (Maslach Burnout Inventory – Human Services Survey) and the PSQI (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index). The research sample is 82 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians selected from a specific pharmaceutical company. A relationship was found between sleep quality and two dimensions of burnout (emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment). There was no difference between the two groups found in either variable or in their relationship.
