Existencial themes in the contemporary stories for pre-readers

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřená na problematiku existenciální tematiky (život, smrt, smysl existence) a vysvětlení této skutečnosti dětem v předškolním věku, především pomocí obrázkových knih pro ně určených. V první části se snažím nastínit, jak smrt jako takovou vnímalo dítě v minulosti a jak je tomu v současné době a proč je důležité povědomí o této skutečnosti v dětech utvářet. Dále také předkládám díla, která považuji v této problematice za klíčová. Ve druhé části rozebírám vybrané tituly: Odkud přicházejí děti? od autorky Katie Daynes, knihu Anna a Anička od české autorky Martiny Špinkové a Když Dinosaurům někdo umře od manželů Laurie Krasny Brown a Marc Brown. Snažím se je analyzovat a následně je mezi sebou komparovat. V závěru se pokouším zhodnotit uměleckou rovinu vybraných děl a jejich didaktické využití, jak náročné téma dětem předškolního věku zprostředkovat.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of existential themes (life, death, meaning of existence) and explanation of this fact to children of preschool age, especially by using picture books for them. In the first theoretical part, I try to outline how death was perceived by a child in the past and how it is at present and why it is important to shape this in children. Furthermore, I also present works that I consider to be key in this issue. In the analytical part I analyze selected titles: Where do the children come from? by Katie Daynes, Anna a Anička from Czech author Martina Špinková and When Dinosaurs Die: A Guide to Understanding Death by Laurie Krasny Brown and Marc Brown. I try to analyze them and then compare them with each other. In the end, I tried to evaluate the artistic level of selected works and their didactic use, how difficult to mediate the topic of pre-school children.
