Self-directed learning and its role in a change of profession

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma Sebeřízené učení a jeho role v profesní změně se snaží skrze kvalitativní výzkum představit profesní změnu optikou osob věnujících se duševní práci a následně poukázat na roli sebeřízeného učení v tomto procesu. Teoretickou práci tvoří dvě kapitoly: Změna profese a Sebeřízené učení. Změna profese je představena prostřednictvím profesní orientace, kariérového poradenství a světa práce, který popisuje trh práce společně s pojmy jako je nezaměstnanost, zaměstnatelnost a proměny pracovního trhu do budoucna. První část teoretické práce končí popisem samotného procesu změny a rekvalifikace, na které navazuje druhá kapitola o Sebeřízeném učení. Ta se věnuje jak učení dospělých, tak samotným dospělým včetně jejich motivace a podmínek k učení. Následuje podkapitola o sebeřízeném učení a jeho zařazení, historii, pojmech a autorech jako Malcolm S. Knowles. Teoretická práce je ukončena podkapitolou o aplikaci sebeřízeného učení. Empirická část práce se věnuje analýze a interpretaci dat získaných z kvalitativního výzkumu, který je zpracován v podobě výsledků, diskuze a souhrnu diplomové práce.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis Self-directed learning and its role in professional change tries to present professional change through qualitative research through the lens of people engaged in non-manual work and then point out the role of self-directed learning in this process. The theoretical work consists of two chapters: Change of profession and Self-directed learning. The change of profession is introduced through professional orientation, career guidance, and the world of work, which describes the labor market together with concepts such as unemployment, employability, and future changes of the labor market. The first part of the theoretical work ends with a description of the process of change and retraining, which is followed by the second chapter on self-directed learning. It deals with both adult learning and adults themselves, including their motivation and conditions for learning. The following subchapter is about self-directed learning and its classification, history, concepts, and authors such as Malcolm S. Knowles. The theoretical work is completed by the subchapter on application of self-directed learning. The empirical part of the work is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of data obtained from qualitative research, which is processed in the form of results, discussion, and summary of the thesis.
