Prevention Awarness of Colon Cancer Illness Among Male Population

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo zjistit do jaké míry je mužská populace informována o prevenci nádorového onemocnění tlustého střeva. Metodika: V empirické části bakalářské práce byl sestaven nestandardizovaný dotazník, který poskytl údaje o míře informovanosti mužů o prevenci kolorektálního karcinomu. Průzkumný soubor byl tvořen 104 muži. Nejprve byla provedena pilotní studie a na jejím základě byl obsah dotazníku upraven a rozdán mezi klienty stomatologické ordinace a širokou veřejnost. Dotazníkové šetření probíhalo od 15. 1. 2014 do 1. 3. 2014. Výsledky: Výsledky dotazníkového šetření prokázaly, že informovanost a vlastní zájem mužské populace o problematiku nádorového onemocnění tlustého střeva, screeningová vyšetření a prevenci jsou nízké. Největší zastoupení ve zdrojích informací měla u respondentů odpověď, že se o tuto problematiku nezajímají. Potěšujícím zjištěním naopak bylo, že většina dotazovaných konzumuje zdraví prospěšné potraviny. Závěr: Kolorektální karcinom je v České republice nejrozšířenější nádorové onemocnění. Chybí zde větší osvěta mužů i široké veřejnosti. Velkým krokem ke zvýšení informovanosti o prevenci kolorektálního karcinomu nejen mužů, ale i široké veřejnosti je "Projekt adresného zvaní na onkologickou prevenci", vedený pod záštitou Všeobecné zdravotní pojišťovny. Dále je nutné, aby se na propagování zdravého životního stylu, motivaci k prevenci a včasné diagnostice tohoto onemocnění podíleli nejen praktičtí lékaři, ale i všeobecné sestry. Sama bych ráda přispěla ke zvýšení a zkvalitnění informovanosti veřejnosti o problematice tohoto onemocnění. Proto jsem se rozhodla vytvořit informační leták, který poskytne stručné informace o screeningových metodách nádorového onemocnění tlustého střeva.

Abstract:

Goal: The goal of this Bachelor Thesis was to determine to what extent is the male population informed about prevention of colon cancer. Methods: The empirical part of the thesis was compiled on a non - standardized questionnaire, which provided data on the awareness of men on the prevention of colorectal cancer. The researched sample consisted of 104 men. Firstly, a forerun study has been executed. The final questionnaire, based on its results, has been modified and distributed amongst the dental office and general public. A questionnaire survey had been conducted from January 15th 2014 to March 1st 2014. Results: Results of the questionnaire investigation have demonstrated that the awareness and interest of the male population on the issues of a tumorous disease of the colon, screening examination and prevention are low. The largest representation in the sources of information were the respondents answer that they are not concerned about this issue. Pleasing to the contrary findings was that the majority of respondents consume wholesome foods. Conclusion: Colorectal cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the Czech Republic. There is no greater public awareness of men and the general public. A major step to increase awareness about the prevention of colorectal cancer not only men, but also to the general public is project "Addressable invitations to cancer prevention", held under the auspices of the General health insurance. It is also necessary, in order to promote a healthy lifestyle, motivation for the prevention and early diagnosis of this disease in not only involved practitioners, but also nurses. I would like to contribute to the increasing and improving public awareness about this disease. That's why I decided to create an information leaflet which will provide brief information on the screening methods of the tumorous disease of the colon.
