Found monster. The construction of footage in found footage horror

Abstract:

V této práci analyzuji film Cloverfield (2008). Využívám nástroje neoformalistické analýzy, které popsali Kristin Thompsonová a David Bordwell. Cloverfield jsem zvolil kvůli specifickému využití virálního marketingu během konstrukce falešné nahrávky v rámci subžánru found footage hororu. Tato nahrávka je ve filmu prezentována jako autentická. Cílem práce je ukázat silné propojení mezi virálním marketingem a procesem vytrváření tohoto pseudo-autentického záznamu událostí (prezentovaných ve filmu) s důrazem na přípravu potenciálního diváka před a během samotné recepce snímku.

Abstract:

In this thesis I analyse movie Cloverfield (2008). I use the neoformalist analysis, which was described by Kristin Thompson and David Bordwell. Cloverfield was chosen because it is specific by the use of viral marketing during the construction of false recording in found footage horror sub-genre. This recording is presented in the movie as an authentic footage. The conclusion of this work is to show strong connection between viral marketing and the process of creating the pseudo-authentic recording of the events presented in the movie with emphasis on preparation of the potential audience before the reception itself, but also during this process of reception.
