Abstract:

Within an environment of continuous expanding competition, engendered by the New Economy, it has been widely observed that organizations increasingly need a resource which is neither highly available, nor easy to copy or imitate, and which can provide the ability to underpin sustainable competitive advantage. This has led to an expanding emphasis on knowledge creation, ownership and dissemination. Nevertheless, focusing solely on knowledge without the proper management of its description, i.e. information, is incomplete. Furthermore, it is insufficient to work exclusively with data and information. As data (D), information (I), knowledge (K) and wisdom (W) are interdependent, in order to achieve effectiveness, and to fully benefit from their dependencies and potential, they should not be managed independently. They have to be managed and coordinated in an integrated manner, as a system. This study seeks to create a framework for DIKW integration across the entire supply chain. Furthermore, an integrated management support system, which accurately embodies the processes, transformations and interactions between the flows of data, information, knowledge and wisdom, will be developed. In order to offer a general overview of whether large organizations integrate customers and suppliers, a number of twenty companies will be studied by investigating customer integration through levels of mass customization and supplier integration through information and knowledge activities. The results show that integration is still in its early days, and companies have a long way ahead to reach DIKW integration across the supply chain.

Abstract:

V prostředí neustále rostoucí konkurence vyvolávané novou ekonomikou je obecně známo, že organizace stále více potřebují zdroj, který není ani těžko dostupný, ani snadno kopírovatelný či napodobitelný, a který může poskytnout možnost podpory udržitelné konkurenční výhody. To vede ke zvýšenému kladení důrazu na vytváření znalostí, vlastnictví a diseminaci. Přesto je neúplné zaměřovat se pouze na znalosti bez řádného popisu, tj. informací. Navíc je nedostatečné pracovat výhradně s daty a informacemi. Protože jsou data (D), informace (I), znalosti (K) a moudrost (W) vzájemně propojené, aby se dosáhlo účinnosti, a aby bylo plně využito jejich závislosti a potenciálu, neměly by být řízeny nezávisle. Musí být řízeny a koordinovány jako systém. Tato práce se snaží vytvořit rámec pro posouzení úrovně integrace DIKW v rámci celého dodavatelského řetězce. Navíc se bude integrovaný systém podpory řízení, který přesně ztělesňuje procesy, transformace a interakce toků dat, informací, znalostí a moudrosti, nadále rozvíjet. Pro poskytnutí obecného přehledu o tom, zda velké organizace integrují zákazníky a dodavatele, bude studováno dvacet společností zkoumáním integrace jejich zákazníků prostřednictvím úrovně hromadného přizpůsobení potřebám zákazníka a integraci dodavatele prostřednictvím informačních a znalostních činností. Výsledky ukazují, že integrace je zatím stále ještě ve svých počátcích a podniky mají před sebou dlouhou cestu pro dosažení integrace DIKW v celém dodavatelském řetězci.
