Production of musical instruments in Luby

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je výroba hudebních nástrojů v Lubech. Práce se zaměřuje na historii výroby od konce 16. století, které je považováno za počátek výroby hudebních nástrojů v Lubech, až po současnou situaci. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol, které se dále člení na podkapitoly. První kapitola popisuje historii města Luby (dříve Schönbach), jeho trvalé připojení k českým zemím a významné milníky v jeho rozvoji. Druhá kapitola se již věnuje výrobě hudebních nástrojů na Lubsku a popisují její vývoj v rámci 17. až 20. století, kdy právě informace o počátcích výroby datované na konci 16. století jsou ovlivněny nedostatkem historických materiálů. Třetí kapitola se věnuje vznikem národního podniku Cremona, jejím vývojem k akciové společnosti Strunal CZ až po úpadek v dnešní době. Závěrečná kapitola práce je věnována soukromým dílnám, kterých je v současnosti velice málo, neboť jak akciová společnost Strunal CZ, tak další soukromé firmy, se potýkají s vysokou konkurencí na trhu v podobě čínských a východoevropských výrobců hudebních nástrojů.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is a production of musical instruments in Luby district. This thesis is aimed at the history of the production from the late 16th century until now. The 16th century is considered as the starting point from which the development on the field of the musical instruments in the Luby district began. The thesis is divided into four chapters and these are further divided into subchapters. The first chapter describes the history of the town Luby (earlier known as Schönbach) its connection to the Czech lands, and other important milestones in its history. The second chapter is describing the development of the production of the musical instruments from the 17th century to the 20th century. The origins of the production are dated to the ending of the 16th century, but unfortunately, a limited amount of trustworthy historical sources is available for this topic. The third chapter is devoted to the foundation of national company Cremona and then to its transformation into joint-stock company Strunal CZ in the early 1990s. Also, the current long-term recession in the field of the musical instruments industry, that affects the whole region, is mentioned in the third chapter. The last chapter is presenting the manufactory in the small private workshops. In these times, there is only a few of them, and they are dealing with the same troubles that affect the corporations like Strunal CZ. The main issue is the high competition on the market by the Chinese and East Asian producers.
