Aspects of leadership on the example of a selected manager

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce shrnuje poznatky z oblasti vedení lidí a zaměřuje se na prozkoumání stylu leadershipu využívaného konkrétní manažerkou ve zkoumané společnosti. Teoretická část práce shrnuje historii a různá pojetí leadershipu. Představuje i styly leadershipu z pohledu teorií zkoumajících daný pojem jako proces ovlivňování druhých. Dále představuje koncept Leadership mřížky a posuzuje vztah mezi leadershipem a následujícími faktory: pracovní komunikace a pracovní spokojenost. Poslední kapitola teoretické části se věnuje principům vyváženého leadershipu a sebehodnotícím testům. Jádro diplomové práce spočívá v empirické části, která obsahuje analýzu a interpretaci výstupů sebehodnotících testů a kvalitativní výzkum uskutečněný prostřednictvím hloubkových polostandardizovaných rozhovorů se zkoumanou manažerkou, s členy jejího týmu a s nadřízeným zkoumané manažerky. Následně jsou shrnuta hlavní zjištění výzkumu a navržena doporučení pro zlepšení současného stavu ve zkoumaném týmu.

Abstract:

This Master’s thesis summarizes current findings in the field of research of leadership and focuses on the analysis of the leadership style used by a specific manager in the researched company. The theoretical part summarizes the history and different concepts of leadership. It also presents leadership styles from the point of view of theories examining the concept as a process of influencing others. Furthermore, it presents the concept of the Leadership grid and assesses the relationship between leadership and the following factors: work communication and job satisfaction. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the principles of versatile leadership and self-assessment tests. The core of this thesis lies in the empirical part, which contains the analysis and interpretation of the results of self-assessment tests and qualitative research, which was carried out through in-depth semi-standardized interviews with the investigated manager, with members of her team and with the supervisor of the investigated manager. Subsequently, the main findings of the research are summarized and the most useful recommendations for improving the current situation in the researched team are proposed.
