This thesis attempts to analyse the functioning of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia at the level of the Žďár nad Sázavou administrative district, and to capture the reactions of local party members to important political milestones of the 1950s, such as the intra-party show trials, the 1953 currency reform, or the revelation of Stalin's crimes by N.
