Čínská infrastrukturní diplomacie na Filipínách: případová studie projektu mostu spojujícího Panay, Guimaras a Negros

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá nedávným obratem filipínské diplomacie k Číně a diskutuje možnosti, které tyto změny mohou mít na rozvoj infrastruktury země. Z tohoto důvodu je hlavním cílem této práce otestovat následující hypotézu: Obrat filipínské zahraniční politiky k Číně během prezidentského období prezidenta Rodriga Duterteho má za následek výrazný infrastrukturní rozvoj země. Teoretická část práce poskytuje úvod do problematiky čínské infrastrukturní diplomacie a blíže vysvětluje terminologii týkající se čínských investic. Též se zabývá již známou novou Hedvábnou stezkou (Belt and Road Initiative), která je dále diskutována. Praktická část práce vysvětluje komplexnost čínsko-filipínských vztahů a poukazuje na změny, které tyto bilaterální vztahy prodělaly za vlády prezidenta Duterteho. Na případu projektu stavby mostu spojujícího ostrovy Panay, Guimaras a Negros práce dále analyzuje čínské zapojení o infrastrukturního rozvoje Filipín.

Abstract:

The thesis discusses the recent shift of the Philippines’ diplomacy toward China and the implications these changes have for infrastructure development of the country. Therefore, the main aim of this thesis is to test the following hypothesis: The pivot of the Philippines’ foreign policy towards China during the president Duterte’s administration results in significant infrastructure development of the country. The theoretical part consists of a general introduction of Chinese infrastructure diplomacy. It provides insight into the troublesome terminology connected to the Chinese investments efforts. It also deals with the often criticized Belt and Road Initiative, which is discussed in a great detail. The practical part first explains the complexity of the Sino-Philippine relations and the changes it has undergone during the president Duterte’s administration. It further analyses the Chinese involvement in the Philippine infrastructure development by focusing on the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge Project.
