Impact of Brexit on UK’s sovereign rating

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Vliv Brexitu na rating Velké Británie“ se zaměřuje na velmi aktuální problematiku vystoupení Velké Británie z Evropské unie. Hlavním cílem práce je pokusit se určit právě vliv vystoupení na suverénní rating Velké Británie v návaznosti na pravděpodobné ekonomické dopady tohoto vystoupení. Práce je členěna do tří kapitol, kdy první kapitola se zabývá ratingem samotným, jeho významem, druhy a tvorbou. V druhé kapitole jsou uvedeny události předcházející brexit, jako referendum o vystoupení a aktivace článku 50. Dále jsou v kapitole shrnuty dosavadní vlivy rozhodnutí opustit EU na vybrané ekonomické ukazatele a také na samotný suverénní rating VB. Poslední kapitola se zaměřuje na možné budoucí vztahy mezi EU a VB, jednotlivé scénáře vztahů a jejich predikované ekonomické dopady. Tyto dopady jsou poté pomocí komparace vyhodnoceny a je přiblížen jejich vliv na suverénní rating VB. V práci jsem dospěla k názoru, že nejhorší vliv na rating by měl bezesporu brexit bez dohody, naopak budoucí blízký vztah mezi EU a VB by rating stabilizoval.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis named „Impact of Brexit on UK’s sovereign rating“ is concentrating on very actual topic of United Kingdom exiting European Union. The main purpose of this thesis is to determine the influence of this unique exit on sovereign rating of United Kingdom with consideration of economic predictions and impacts of Brexit. This thesis is divided into three chapters, first chapter is focused on explanation of rating, meaning of rating and its methodology. In the second chapter there are introduced events which precede Brexit itself, as referendum about leaving EU or triggering Article 50. Furthermore, impacts of these events on chosen economic indicators are summarized in this chapter as well as sovereign rating of UK. Third chapter is focused on possible future relations between UK and EU, individual scenarios and their economic predictions. These predictions are afterwards evaluated by comparison and their influence on sovereign rating of UK is inducted. I discovered that the worse impact on sovereign rating would have „no deal“ Brexit whilst to remain close relation between UK and EU would stabilize sovereign rating of United Kingdom.
