Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá jazykem článků shrnujících průběh hokejového zápasu (tzv. game recaps). Cílem této práce je zjistit, jaké strukturální vzorce a lingvistické prvky charakterizují tento typ článků. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na sportovní diskurz obecně, rozdíly mezi mluveným a psaným jazykem sportu a předchozí výzkum v této oblasti. Pro účely analýzy byl sesbírán soubor třiceti článků shrnujících průběh hokejového zápasu z webových stránek NHL. V analytické části jsou zkoumány specifické strukturální vzorce a převládající jazykové prvky v tomto jazykovém materiálu z hlediska diskurzivní analýzy. Analýza dokázala, že struktura tohoto typu článků je většinou podobná a informace jsou uvedeny v chronologickém sledu. Navíc bylo dokázáno, že funkcí nejpoužívanějších lingvistických prvků je nabídnout čtenářům podobný zážitek jakoby opravdu byli přítomni na zápase.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the language of ice hockey game recaps. The aim of this thesis is to discover what structural patterns and linguistic features characterize game recaps. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the sports discourse in general, differences between the spoken and the written language of sport and previous research in this field. For the purposes of this analysis, the dataset of 30 game recaps was collected from the NHL website. In the analytical part, the specific structural patterns as well as the function of predominant lingustic features in this linguistic material are examined from the perspective of discourse analysis. The analysis showed that the structure of game recaps is usually similar and the information is provided in a chronological order. Additionally, it was found that the function of the most frequently employed linguistic features is to offer readers a similar experience to actually being present at the match.
