Non-invasive methods evaluating the anterior segment of the eye

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá neinvazivními metodami, které hodnotí přední segment oka. Znát aktuální stav předního segmentu vyšetřovaného oka je důležité jak pro oftalmologa, tak i pro optometristu. V optometristické praxi je primárně důležitá rohovka, která je například využívána k aplikaci kontaktních čoček. Dále může optometrista jako první zachytit na předním segmentu jakýkoliv problém, bez zbytečného odkladu odeslat klienta na vyšetření k oftalmologovi a předejít tak následným složitějším komplikacím. K analýze předního segmentu se využívají přístroje a metody, které jsou zaměřeny buď jen na určitou část, nebo na celý přední oční segment. Konkrétní přístroje vyrábí mnoho firem po celém světě a v dnešní době zajišťují velice přesné výsledky měřených parametrů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with non-invasive methods that evaluate the anterior segment of the eye. The knowledge of the current state of the anterior segment of the examined eye is important for both the ophthalmologist and the optometrist. In optometry practice, the cornea is primarily important because it is used, for example, for the application of contact lenses. In addition, the optometrist may be the first to capture any problem on the anterior segment without an unnecessary delay before the client is referred to the ophthalmologist for an examination. In this way, more serious complications can be prevented. For the anterior segment analysis, various devices and methods are used that focus only on a particular part or on the entire anterior eye segment. Specific devices are manufactured by many companies around the world and at present they can provide very accurate results of the measured parameters.
