The Reflection of the war in literary creation E. M. Remarque

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na téma války v literární tvorbě E. M. Remarqua, ale i na téma války v dílech ostatních autorů, jako je Henri Barbusse, Ernst Heminqway nebo Jaroslav Hašek. Práce si klade za cíl podrobnější seznámení s E. M. Remarquem, jeho životem, osudem a tvorbou. Další cíl práce je pokusit se o analýzu dvou Remarquových románů, jeho nejznámějšího díla Na západní frontě klid a románu Čas žít, čas umírat. Obě díla mají mnoho společných rysů, ač každý román vyšel po jiné světové válce. Mají stejné stavebné schéma (válka ? voják na frontě ? voják v zázemí ? voják opět na frontě ? smrt), podobné motivy (láska, bývalý student a učitel), jazyk díla. I přes mnoho společných znaků v dílech najdeme také zásadní rozdíly. Stejné, podobné i rozdílné znaky, jazyk díla, motivy atd. zde byly postupně rozebrány a pro lepší názornost byly k některým znakům připojeny také ukázky z přeložených děl.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the war in literary works of E. M. Remarque, but also on the war in the works of other authors such as Henri Barbusse, Ernst Hemingway or Jaroslav Hasek. The work aims at a more detailed introduction to the E. M. Remarque, his life, destiny and creation. Another objective is to try to work on an analysis of two Remarque novels, his most famous work All Quiet on the Western Front and the rest of the novel Time to live, time to die. Books works share many common features, although every other novel published after the Second World War. They have the same construction scheme (War - a soldier on the front - a soldier in the background - a soldier at the front again - death), similar themes (love, a student and teacher), the language of work. We can find significant differences in the work in spite of many common features. Identical, similar and different characters the language works, themes, etc. There have been gradually analyzed and for better illustration to some of the characters were added examples from translated works also.
