Typology of Future Teachers on the Bases of Their Interaction and Communication

Abstract:

Shrnutí V pedkládané práci se zabýváme problematikou typologií budoucích uitel v závislosti na jejich interakci a komunikaci. Zpsob interakce a komunikace uitele (interakní styl) ovlivuje proces a výsledky výuky. V souvislosti s interakním stylem pak lze uitele piazovat k uritým typm. Pro uitele je dležité nejen identifikovat svj interakní styl, ale také uvdomit si pednosti a nedostatky spojené s tímto stylem, nebo ty se odrážejí ve výuce. Proto je nutné vnovat v pregraduální, ale i v postgraduální píprav uitel pozornost oblasti komunikace a interakce. V poslední dob pibývají rzné možnosti rozvíjení komunikaních a interakních dovedností pedevším u budoucích uitel (ezá, Horká 2000; Nelešovská, 2003; Svatoš, 2005). Nkteré z nich mají povahu intervencí, jako napíklad v eské republice nov rozvíjená metoda videotréninku interakcí (Miková, 2004). Hlavním cílem práce je pispt k objasnní významu interakního stylu uitele vzhledem k procesm a k výsledkm výuky. Tento cíl je naplován prostednictvím dílích cíl v jednotlivých kapitolách, piemž klíovou je pátá kapitola, v níž pedstavujeme realizované výzkumné šetení. Dílím cílem v kapitole 1 (Typologie uitel) bylo pedevším pojednat o významu typologií pro uitele. Pedstavili jsme zde koncepci typologickou, rysovou a faktorovou, z nichž vychází i naše typologie budoucích uitel (kap. 5). Dále jsme popsali vybrané typologie uitel. V kapitole 2 (Teoretická východiska interakce a komunikace ve výuce) bylo dílím cílem vymezení hlavních pojm, které v práci používáme, jako nap. interakce, interpersonální chování, interakní styl, sociální komunikace, pedagogická komunikace, komunikace ve výuce. Dalším cílem bylo pojednat o specifikách komunikace ve výuce, nap. o pravidlech komunikace, o prostorovém a asovém vymezení, o obsahu komunikace. Snažili jsme se také naznait vliv odlišných interakních styl uitele na žáky, na proces a výsledky výuky. Zárove jsme se pokusili naznait, že komunikace a interakce ve výuce je ovlivována nejen pedagogickými, ale i dalšími aspekty, jako jsou nap. oekávání, vnímání, sociální role. Dílím cílem kapitoly 3 (Výzkumy pedagogické komunikace a interakce) bylo zmapovat vývoj výzkum pedagogické komunikace a interakce, pedstavit vybrané eské a slovenské výzkumy zabývající se touto problematikou a také pedstavit výzkumy, které se zamovaly na interakní styl (budoucích) uitel. Pojednali jsme také o výzkumných metodách a nástrojích, které se pi zkoumání pedagogické interakce a komunikace nejastji uplatují. V kapitole 4 (Learyho teorie interpersonálního chování a dotazník QTI) je pedstavena Learyho teorie interpersonálního chování, její modifikace do školního prostedí (Wubbels, Levy, 1993) a dotazník QTI, který byl koncipován na základ této teorie a který jsme použili v našem výzkumném šetení (kap. 5). V kapitole 5 (Výzkumné šetení) jsme si stanovili cíl diagnostikovat interakní styl budoucích uitel na základ dotazníku QTI a na základ získaných výsledk vytvoit typologii budoucích uitel v závislosti na jejich interakci a komunikaci. Dalším cílem bylo posoudit pednosti a limity použité výzkumné strategie kombinace metody dotazníkového šetení s metodou rozhovoru založeném na videozáznamu. Závry uvádíme v kap. 5.5. Cílem kapitoly 6 bylo navrhnout model intervenních zásah v komunikaní a interakní píprav budoucích uitel (obr. 19). V souvislosti s tím jsme pedstavili metodu videotréninku interakcí. Dospli jsme k závru, že pokusy o vytváení typologií budoucích uitel jsou užitené jak pro teorii, tak pro praxi uitelského vzdlávání. V oblasti teorie rozšiují a zpesují naše poznání o tom, jak široké a souasn rozmanité je spektrum interakních styl budoucích uitel. Ukázalo se, že v oblasti praxe uitelského vzdlávání je vhod

Summary This dissertation paper deals with the topic of typology of future teachers on the bases of their interaction and communication. Ways in which teachers interact and communicate (interaction style) influence the process and outcomes of teaching and learning. With regard to the interaction style, teachers can be identified as belonging to various types. It is important for the teacher not only to identify their own interaction style but also to realise the benefits and drawbacks of the particular style, as they are reflected in the teaching. (Self-)Reflection and (auto-)diagnostics are also very much involved. Especially the interaction style of future teachers requires various forms of intervention. The main aim of the paper is to contribute to the clarification of the term of interaction style with regard to the processes and outcomes of teaching and learning. This aim is pursued in individual chapters. The key chapter in this respect is chapter 5 in which the findings of our research are introduced. The aims of the research were to examine the interaction styles of future teachers using the QTI questionnaires and to propose typology of future teachers based on their ways of interaction and communication. The paper is divided into six chapters (Typology of Teachers, Theoretical bases of Interaction and Communication in the Classroom, Research into Pedagogical Communication and Interaction, Learys Theory of interpersonal Behaviour and the QTI questionnaire, Research Project, Possibilities of Intervention into the Communication and Interaction Components of Teacher Training): The first chapter deals with typologies in teaching and in teacher training. Selected typologies are presented as well as various approaches to typology building. The key part of the chapter presents descriptions of selected typologies of teachers. In the second chapter, key terms are clarified, such as interaction, interpersonal behaviour, interaction style, social communication, pedagogical communication or classroom communication. Not only are these terms discussed theoretically, but they are also related to the classroom reality. Other aspects of interaction and communication between the teacher and the pupils, which are linked to their social roles or expectations, are also considered. In the third chapter, the history of research into pedagogical interaction and communication is briefly outlined. Research projects on teacher-student interaction and communication in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are presented, as well as selected foreign research projects into the teachers interpersonal style. Methodological issues of pedagogical communication and interaction research are also discussed and selected categorial systems are presented that are typically employed in such research. In the fourth chapter, Learys theory of interpersonal behaviour is presented, on the basis of which Leary built the Interpersonal Adjective Checklist questionnaire. We also present the modification for pedagogical purposes, which was provided by T. Wubbels, J. Levy et al. This questionnaire is known as the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) and it was adapted for the Czech and Slovak environment by P. Gavora and J. Mareš (2002). It is Learys theory of interpersonal behaviour and the QTI questionnaire that our research project is based on. The procedure and findings of our research project are described in chapter 5. On the theoretical level, the aim of our research project is to diagnose the interaction style of future teacher using the QTI questionnaire and to build a typology of future teachers on the basis of their interaction and communication. On the methodological level, the aim is to assess the benefits and restrictions of the employed research strategy - the combination of a questionnaire survey and video study-based interviews. s. Based on the collected data, interpretations and conclusions are formulated. In the sixth chapter, we propose ways to interlink pre-service teacher training at faculties of Education and the experience that students gain during the teaching practice. The use of video recordings is emphasised in connection with the method of video interaction guidance. In the Conclusion, the work is summarised and possible future continuations are proposed.
