Prvá časť, teoretická, predstavuje teoretické východiská pracovnej spokojnosti. V širšej súvislosti definuje pracovnú spokojnosť ako súčasť celkovej životnej spokojnosti a zachytáva podstatu a obsah pojmu pracovná spokojnosť.
