Motivation and academic success of students in the 1st level of primary school

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na téma "Motivace a školní úspěšnost na 1. stupni ZŠ". Cílem této diplomové práce bylo zjistit a popsat využití motivace a motivačních aktivit na 1. stupni základních škol, jakým způsobem učitelé motivují své žáky a jestli je vůbec motivují, jakým způsobem hodnotí, jak žáky odměňují nebo naopak trestají. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části diplomové práce jsou shrnuty obecné poznatky týkající se teorie motivace a jejího vztahu k výchově a vzdělávání. Vysvětluje tedy pojem motivace, motivační činitelé žákova učení, motivační činitelé žákova neúspěchu, poukazuje na činitelé ovlivňující motivaci a zabývá se charakteristikou dětí mladšího školního věku. Praktická část zahrnuje výzkumné šetření zaměřené na dnešní využití motivačních aktivit ve výuce na 1. stupni ZŠ. Následuje vyhodnocení vlastního průzkumu využití motivace a motivačních aktivit na prvním stupni základních škol. V práci jsou také zpracovány výsledky pozorování, které slouží jako doplňkový výzkum.

Abstract:

This master thesis is dealing with the topic "Motivation and school success at the first grade of primary school". The aim of the thesis is to find out and describe utilization of motivation and its activities at the first grade of primary schools, how do teachers motivate their pupils and if ever they do motivate them, how they grade them, how they remunerate or vice versa penalize the pupils. The paper is divided in two parts. There is a summary of general knowledge bear on a theory of motivation and its relation to the education in the first part. The theoretical part explains the concept of motivation, motivational factors of pupil's learning and failure, highlights the factors affecting motivation and discusses children's characteristics of primary school age. The practical part includes research focused on the use of today's motivational activities in education at the first grade of primary school. Next is the evaluation of the research of the motivation's use and motivational activities at the first grade of primary school. The paper also elaborated observations that serve as additional research.
