Patient's orthoptic treatment with convergence insufficiency

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá ortoptickou léčbou u pacientů s insuficiencí konvergence. V práci je popsáno, jak funguje motorická složka zrakového orgánu, tedy okohybné svaly, okohybné nervy a motorická centra. Dále je v práci objasněn pojem konvergence, popsány její složky, jakým způsobem se konvergence vyšetřuje a jaké poruchy konvergence existují. V další části se práce zabývá samotnou insuficiencí konvergence, jejím názvoslovím, etiologií, symptomy a diagnostikou. V poslední části práce je rozebrána léčba insuficience konvergence, především jaké typy cvičení zahrnuje ortoptická léčba v ambulanci, jaké jsou možnosti domácího cvičení, jak ji lze léčit pomocí prizmat a refrakční korekce, případně chirurgickým zákrokem.

Abstract:

Bachelor’s thesis deals with patients‘ orthoptic treatment with convergence insufficiency. The thesis describes how motor part of visual organ works, which means extraocular muscles, associated cranial nerves and motor centres. Further the term of convergence is cleared in this work, its parts are described here, the way of convergence examination and what kinds of convergence anomalies exist. In the next part the thesis concerns with itself convergence insufficiency, its terminology, etiology, symptoms and diagnostics. The treatment of convergence insufficiency is analysed in this final part of work, mainly what types of exercises orthoptic treatment covers in outpatients‘ department, the possibilities of home-based exercises, the way of treatment by prisms and by refractive corrections, alternatively by surgery.
