Perception of industrial area of the Ústí Region in Czech media in comparison with region of Ostrava

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám percepcí dvou průmyslových oblastí Ústecka a Ostravska ve vybraných televizních zpravodajských relacích. Cílem práce je zachytit, jak média vnímají tyto dvě průmyslové oblasti Česka a jaký vliv mají obsahy zpravodajství na image obou regionů. Na začátku práce se nejdříve věnuji vymezení zkoumaného území. Zájmová území vymezuji z pohledu geografického, i z pohledu cestovního ruchu. Obě území také charakterizuji z hlediska životního prostředí. Následující kapitola je věnována image a stereotypům, které jsou s oběma územími spojené. Dále jsem se zaměřila na definici pojmu image a teoretické ukotvení výzkumu. V této kapitole jsem pojem nejdříve blíže charakterizovala a zaměřila jsem se také na pojmy s ním související. Následně jsem se věnovala teoriím, které se vážou k provedenému výzkumu. V další kapitole představuji zvolenou metodu výzkumu - kvantitativní obsahovou analýzu. Závěrečné kapitoly práce patří analýze mediálního sdělení a výsledkům výzkumu. V těchto kapitolách popisuji jednotlivé kroky výzkumu od formulace výzkumné otázky až po konstrukci a kódování kategorií obsahu. Posléze již interpretuji výsledky výzkumu, přičemž s nimi pracuji ve třech rovinách.

Abstract:

In my diploma thesis, I deal with the perception of two industrial areas of Usti nad Labem and Ostrava in selected television news programs. The objective of the work is to capture how the media perceive these two Czech industrial areas and what impact the news content has on the image of both regions. At the beginning of the work, I focus on the definition of the study area. I define the areas of interest both from the perspective of geography and from the perspective of tourism. I also characterize both areas in terms of the environment. The following chapter is devoted to the image and stereotypes that are associated with these two territories. I describe the term ?image? and theoretical anchorage of the research. In this chapter, I define the term as well as terms related to it. Consequently, I focus on theories that bind to the research carried out. Further, I present the chosen method of the research; the quantitative content analysis. The final chapters of the work bring an analysis of the media communication and research results. Hereto, I describe the individual steps of the research from the formulation of the research questions to the construction and coding of content categories. Finally, I interpret the research results while working with them in three planes.
