Sociometric test of high school students in a small town

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřila na zjišťování vztahu studentů ve dvou třídách střední školy na malém městě. Stanovuje preferované, marginalizované a vedoucí osoby obou skupin a ukazuje jejich pozici v těchto kolektivech. První část práce se zabývá stanovením obecné definice sociometrie a pojetím Jacoba L. Morena, zakladatele sociometrie jako vědní disciplíny. Také se zde obecně zaměřuji na sociometrický test a pravidla jeho konstrukce. Druhá část se poté zabývá dotazníky studentů a jejich vyučujících. U každé třídy určuji nejvíce preferované, marginalizované a vedoucí osoby. U těchto osob se dále zabývám stanovením jejich vlastností, které definují jejich vystupování v rámci této skupiny a předurčují tak jejich status, který jim je studenty připisován. Tyto osoby jsou mezi studenty (ve většině případů) jasně zřetelné, každá skupina má definovaného svého oblíbence, outsidera a leadera. Spolu s touto pozicí se také zaměřuji na vlastnosti, které tyto osoby charakterizují, a pohlížím na odlišnosti, které s pozicemi ve třídě souvisejí. V závěru srovnávám obě třídy z hlediska vlastností, které jsou pro studenty důležité při sociopreferečních volbách, a také z hlediska soudržnosti jejich kolektivů.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on identifying the relationship of two high school classrooms in a small town. The aim is to find the most preferred, marginalized, and leading students of both groups and show their status in these groups. The first part of the thesis deals with the assessment of the general definition of sociometry and its concept from Jacob L. Moreno, the founder of sociometry as a scientific discipline. The sociometric test and the rules for constructing the test in general are focused on as well. The second part deals with the questionnaires for students and their teachers. The most preferred, marginalized, and leading students are identified in each of the groups. These students are described in detail in terms of their character. It defines the way they behave in that particular group, which determines the status that the other students assign him or her. These students are usually quite easily distinguishable among other students. Each group defines their favorite person, outsider, and leader. I focus on these and other qualities that characterize these students and I look at the differences related to the status given to them by the group. The final part compares both classes in terms of the qualities that are important for students when choosing their favorite and marginalized students, and also in terms of their group cohesion.
